Smuggling human hair worth over Rs 1 crore foiled

Imphal: Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(South) has foiled cross border smuggling near Khudengthabi in Tengnoupal district of Manipur on Friday.

Tengnoupal Battalion, based on specific input on cross border smuggling near Kwatha junction, a search operation was launched in the area. On thorough checking of the area, gunny bags full of human hair were recovered. The assessed worth of recovered human hair is approximately Rs 1.02 crore, the Assam Rifles said.

The recovered items have been handed over to customs department for further investigation, it added.
