Imphal: Imphal East Police on Wednesday arrested two drug peddlers including a police constable of Narcotic Cell, Imphal West.
The drug peddlers were arrested along with Heroin powder weighing about 158 gm during frisking and checking at Kiyamgei Maning Leikai near oil pump, Imphal, superintendent of police, Imphal East, N.Herojit Meetei told reporters.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Md Abdul, 32, son of Md Kyamuddin of Hiyangthang Terahei, Imphal West and Md Angou, 27, son of Md Amu of Hiyangthang Terahei, Imphal West.
Herojit said, acting on a reliable information a combined team of Narcotic cell, Imphal East led by officer-in-charge, narcotic cell, inspector Kh. Devkumar Singh assisted by assistant sub-inspector, Brajakishore Singh, one team of Irilbung police station, a team of Porompat Police station along with members of Youth Athletic Development Association (YADA) of Khergao, Imphal East conducted the frisking and checking.
While conducting the frisking and checking one Honda Activa bearing registration number MN01C-4791 grey in colour was seen coming from Manipur University gate towards Kyamgei Maning Leikai near oil pump in a suspicious manner. When the police team stopped the vehicle and during verification one green polythene carry bag containing 12 transparent plastic packets of Heroin were detected from the tool box, he added.
Later, Abdul disclosed that he is a police constable presently posted at narcotic cell, Imphal West, the senior police officer said.
The two persons were arrested at the spot and seized the vehicle along with two smart phones. The arrested persons along with the seizures has been handed over to Irilbung police station for further necessary legal action, Herojit said.
