Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh extended his ‘heartfelt’ appreciation to the youth of the state for complying with the government’s appeal to observe the Yaoshang (Holi) festival maintaining Covid appropriate behaviours and prohibiting Thabal Chongba (traditional community dance).
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation of the cooperation of our youth towards the government’s appeal for foregoing Thabal Chongba and Holi this season in the interest of public health particularly the Covid -19 pandemic in the state,” Biren posts on his Facebook wall.
He thanked the people for their cooperation and support to the government’s appeal to celebrate the festival with restrictions.
Ahead of the festival Biren appealed the people to celebrate Yaoshang festival observing Covid appropriate behaviours as he greeted people on the festival.
In wake of Covid-19, the state government prohibited Thabal Chongba, Jatrawali, and spraying or applying of colours among others during the 5-day Holi festival.
