Imphal: Manipur Civil Service (MCS) Association has urged the state authorities to take immediate necessary action to book the culprits who carried out ambush to SDO Sheikh Abdul Hakim on Tuesday at Tupul.
On the day of the incident, at around 5:30 pm, Hakim was returning from the district headquarters, Noney to Imphal when some unknown armed persons fired at his vehicle at Tupul area. Fortunately, he and his team escaped unhurt. The team went directly, amidst the gun-fire, to the E Coy 86 Bn CRPF camp at Tupul for safety, MCS Association president Ngangom Uttam Singh said in a statement released on Wednesday.
The association strongly condemns such dastardly act on a civil servant who was carrying out his duties diligently. This will demoralise other civil servants who, despite all odds, are serving the state with utmost dedication, it said.
The association appeals the state authorities to take immediate necessary action to book the culprits and to take necessary action to prevent such incidents in the future which can harm the life and spirit of civil servants.
Hakim recently joined as ADC/ Noney and SDO/ BDO Noney in addition in pursuant to the government order No. 25/14/2012-MCS/DP dated January 14 issued by the department of personnel and administrative reforms (personnel division).
