Imphal: Fresh organic oranges produced by farmers of Pherzawal district which have not been able to reach market were brought to Imphal and sold at Sanjenthong organic outlets of horticulture soil conservation and agriculture on Monday.
The oranges were procured by Manipur Agro-Producer and Development Coorporative Society under Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA).
The promotional sale was organised with the motive “Lets help our farmers”.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh terms it as Self Reliant Mission as he posts on his Facebook wall. He said the sale will continue for the oranges of Saikul area.
Total oranges procured from the district was about five metric tons.
They were sold at Rs 90 per kg. During the promotional sales consumers who come to buy organic oranges from different orange groves of Pherzawal district could taste the oranges without charging a single Rupee.
