Assam Rifles unearth massive Heroine

Imphal: Assam Rifles on Sunday recovered Heroine powder smuggled across the border from Myanmar in Laiching area.

The drug was recovered in the early morning of the day when troops of the Assam Rifles launched an operation to intercept a consignment of drugs ‘being smuggled across the border from Myanmar in Laiching area’.

During the operation in the area close to Laiching- Kotak Khuntak track, the troops located concealed items in a bush besides the track. On closer examination, the troops recovered Heroine powder in soap-case packets, worth ₹ 68 lakhs, the Assam Rifles said.

The recovered narcotics were handed over to Chandel Police for further investigation.
