Imphal: Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East on Monday released the two persons who were arrested in connection with a cruelty to animal case.
The accused persons Thiyam Motilal and Yursem Muinao are produced with prayer for judicial custody till September 14.
Motilal was arrested allegedly for dragging a dog to death after a video of dragging a dog while driving a vehicle went viral on Sunday. Yursem was arrested for preparing meat out of the dog.
The court’s order said a report was lodged on Sunday by co-convenor of JCCWB stating she saw a viral video where one person was seen dragging a dog while driving a vehicle.
During the investigation Motilal revealed he brought the dog from his friend and took it to the residence of Yursem and sold it to him.
Yursem was arrested while dressing the dog for consumption.
The accused were represented by their counsels and filed Bail petition for their release.
Remand petition and bail petition are taken up together for consideration and disposal. The FIR is registered for commission of offence under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1960, all the offences are bailable in nature. Hence accused are granted bail on furnishing of PR bond of Rs 50,000 and surety of like amount, the order said.
The court directed the accused to appear before the court on September 15.
