Imphal: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has appealed to the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur to refund the exam fees to the students who applied for the HSLC Compartmental Examination, 2020, for which all the candidates were declared passed.
The state board on Monday declared the compartmental exam candidates promoted in wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. It said if the examination is to be deferred further beyond August or early part of September there is possibility of losing an academic year of the candidates.
DESAM appreciated the state board for granting promotion to the compartmental candidates.
President of the student body, N. Edison said a sum of Rs 2100 each was collected from the 5329 candidates.
“It will be a right step to refund the exam fees to the students as the exam was not conducted,” the student leader said. The refunded sum may be a big help to the students of those families who live on daily earning during this Covid-19 crisis.
The student body also appealed to the Council of Higher Education Manipur to grant promotion for the Class XII compartmental candidates without taking exam fees in view of the present situation.
The state government on July 28 approved to promote Class XI students to Class XII. It was notified that the Class XI examination for the academic year 2019-20 has been done away in view of the Covid-19 situation and the student will be promoted based on the performance in terms tests.
