Impha: Anti-Smuggling unit Customs Division, lmphal recovered 30,000 tablets (3 Kg) of WY tablets at Loushipat, located between Langthabal and Sora along National Highway-102, Kakching district on Monday.
Acting on specific information, the officers of Anti-Smuggling unit Customs Division, lmphal detected the drugs at about 5: 30 pm.
According to a press statement released on Tuesday by superintendent of the anti-smuggling unit, P. Roben Singh, the information specified that a man of around 30 years of age, by name, Aid Zuma Khan of Sora Mamang Leikai will be carrying a huge consignment of Amphetamine tablets of foreign origin valued at aroung Rs 3-4 crores to be delivered to an unknown person in the said loacation.
The officers, along with two independent witnesses rush towards the said area. Aid Zuma Khan came carrying a black polythene bag, the release said.
The officers immediately ambushed and chased the person and signaled him to stop. But he threw away the stuff he carried and ran towards the wet and muddy paddy field, it added.
The officers chased him a few metres but, unfortunately he could not be apprehended.
The officers when searched the grassy and jungle area found three bundles containing 10,000 each of Amphetamine tablets.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation to nab the person and his associate is going on, the officer said.
