Imphal: OPD of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has been shut down for one week with the confirmation of an attendant of the the hospital positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
He was among 14 persons who were tested positive for the contagion as on Monday.
RIMS Medical Superintendent professor Ch. Arunkumar in a press release on Monday said the attendant visited Respiratory Medicine OPD, Respiratory Medicine ward, ECG Room in OPD block, Radiodiagnosis department, Respiratory Medicine department and Plastic Surgery department.
All the departments/wards which the attendant visited have been closed for one week with immediate effect, the release said.
Emergency services will not be affected, it added.
It informed that all the faculty members, nurses and other staff who were in contact would be tested for Covid-19 on July 23 and 24 .
It also informed that epidemiological investigation and contact tracing inside RIMS has been initiated by the Community Medicine Department, RIMS.
Eighty-five persons were discharged from different Covid care centres after confirming Covid-19 free on RT PCR test while 14 persons were confirmed positive for the desease as on Monday.
The cured Covid-19 patients were discharged from Covid care centres of Meitram, Imphal West (25), RD Wing, Lamphel (10), Kamjong (5), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (35) and Covid Care Facility, JNIMS (1).
The new positive cases were confirmed at VRDL of RIMS (4) and DH of Thoubal (10).
They belong to the districts of Imphal West (1), Kamjong (1) and Thoubal (12).
Those ten persons including a technician working at RIMS belonging to Thoubal district do not have travel history and the rest are returnees from other states. All
necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 1925. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 605 and 1320 respectively. The recovery rate is 68.57
percent. The recovery rates in the districts of Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal have reached 100 percent, the control room said.
