Imphal: Sixteen persons including a female were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases at VRDLs of RIMS (1) and JNIMS (15) on Monday.
They belong to the districts of Chandel (1), Imphal East (3), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (6) and Senapati (5). They will be shifted to the COVID care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, an official information said.
With the new cases the cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1609.
However, in the past twenty four hours 53 persons were discharged from CCCs of Meitram (16), Churachandpur (4), Kakching (2), Senapati (2). Ukhrul (8) and COVID Care Facilities of RIMS (12) and JNIMS (9) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.
The numbers of active and recovered cases are 713 and 896 respectively. The recovery rate is 55.68 percent, the official information said.
Wearing of face mask is a very effective non-medical means to prevent spread of COVID-19. “Wear face mask when you speak to your colleagues, close friends and relatives. People should wear face mask whenever going out of the house,” additional director and spokesperson, health department, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said.
