Imphal: Rapid Antigen Detection Centre in Jiribam will help in early detection of Coronavirus infection and quick diagnosis, chief minister N. Biren Singh said on Wednesday during inauguration of the rapid antigen detection centre with six other projects at his office, here.
The rapid antigen detection centre was inaugurated while Jiribam is facing rise in Covid-19 cases with the confirmation of police personnel positive for the disease after stranded Manipur denizens were brought back at Jiribam railway station and while Jiribam people are raising voice for provision of proper care and treatment facilities in the district.
Civil society organisations in Jiribam also demanded to open Covid Care centre in a suitable location instead of opening it at the district hospital.
Biren said the government has not taken any decision to convert the Jiribam district hospital into Covid Care Centre. However, the government is planning to open a Covid Care Centre in Jiribam district so that the coronavirus infected patients can be treated at the district itself.
Biren said that the testing facilities will also be made available to other districts of the state very soon. Around 15,000 rapid testing kits have been supplied to the state government till now, he added.
Mentioning about the situation of Covid-19 crisis in the state, the chief minister said the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients have reached more than 53 percent and there is no casualty so far in the state.
He appeals to the people to take all precautionary measures to fight the disease and abide to all the protocols and SOPs issued by health ministry.
