Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 15, 2020 First Covid-19 positive patient of Meghalaya passed away on Wednesday morning.
John L Sailo Ryntathiang, 69, (MD Medicine) the managing director of Bethany Hospitals, died at around 3 am. He had tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
Ryntathiang reportedly got infected from his son-in-law, a pilot with Air India who had returned from New York to Delhi on March 16 and reached Shillong on March 24.
He left behind his two daughters (both are doctors – one is Radiologist), two sons and his wife.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma twitted on Wednesday that of the 68 samples tested so far six have come out positive of the Coronavirus, who are all family members and helpers of the first Covid-19 positive patient of the state.
“Six other cases are being tested. All the rest of the cases are negative,” he twitted.
With the death of the Covid-19 patient in Meghalaya Northeast region has recorded two Covid-19 fatality after the death reported in Assam.
Manipur has so far recorded two positive cases; one of them turn out negative and discharged from the hospital.
Thirty positive cases of the disease have been reported in Assam. One each has been reported Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland.
One 24 years old female nurse from Manipur working at Max Hospital, New Delhi has been tested positive for Covid-19 in Delhi.
India’s tally of Covid-19 poitive cases has risen to 11, 439 and death toll has reached 377.
