Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 25, 2020: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh appealed to his fellow natives to celebrate Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, Manipur New Year’s day, with restrictions as he sends message on the festival eve.
The festival marks the end of the previous year and onset of a new year.
“Today we are hard-pressed to observe maximum precaution to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 to our population. Much as we would all have loved to celebrate the coming of the new year, however, for the sake of our health and safety of ourselves, our loved ones and our own community, we must maintain social distancing, avoid gathering of more than four persons and restrict the observation to offering of ritual prayers in the safety of our homes,” the chief minister said.
“Let us resolve to take responsible actions and make this one sacrifice in the larger interest of safety of our societies,” he added.
He said, “Together, let us join hands in combating this menace to mankind. Together, we can come out stronger, wiser and more prepared to lead ourselves out of this darkness in the coming days” and wished “May God bless us all.”
