Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 5, 2020: On the theme ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights’ International Women’s Day, 2020 was held at Central Agricultural University (CAU), Iroisemba, here on Thursday.
It was jointly organised by Press Information Bureau, ministry of information and broadcasting and CAU – department of agricultural research and education.
Social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen called for a society where women would experience equality in all spheres of their lives and respected for their pivotal roles in shaping the society.
She reminds that women contribute greatly in developing and building a prosperous society.
The state social welfare department is implementing various programmes, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandhan Yojana (PMMVY), Beti Bchao Beti Padhao (BBBP), 181 – Women Helpline, One Stop Centre, POCSO, Fast Track Court, SABLA, ICDS, ICPS amongst others to uplift the status of the women and safeguard them from any forms of untoward incidents.
On the occasion, seminar on topics such as Importance of Education for Women Empowerment, Rural Women and Agriculture Role of Nutrition in Women Empowerment and Women in North East: Issues snd Achievements was delivered by Dr. Ch. Jamini Devi, former chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women, S. Molibala Devi, head and un-charge, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Andro and Ng. Liklaileima Arambam, journalist respectively.
