Union minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar raised questions including the repeatedly asked question—why chief minister Okram Ibobi led congress government has not taken up action against the economic blockaders by using the central paramilitary force provided by the centre to end the blockade.
Even if the congress leaders had long back answered to the question of the BJP on the reason of not using forces to the blockaders saying that everyone in the state are the sons of the soil and the chief minister has been expressing his view to bring solutions without violence, BJP keeps on asking the same.
The Congress had earlier appealed the BJP government at the centre to talk to the NSCN-IM to end the blockade as the centre is having peace accord with the militant group while UNC which is imposing the indefinite economic blockade is its frontal organisation. In reply the centre supplied paramilitary forces to use taking action against the blockaders along the lifelines in the state saying that Law and Order is a state subject.
“When the state asked the centre for help to end the blockade the centre supplied forces instead of helping to negotiate with the blockade backers, which means that they want to let the state government kill its own people and create chaos in the state which would again become a point to blame the state”, said a senior citizen.
BJP has been saying if it comes to power in the state the blockade imposed by the United Naga Council which has nearly completed four months would be withdrawn in two days. For which the Congress had reacted that the BJP was confident in opening the blockade as the party ruling at the centre are hand and globe with the UNC and the NSCN (IM). Reacting to the Prime minister on similar statement Ibobi Singh had asked will the BJP government at the centre allow the UNC to continue the blockade if BJP fails to come to power in the state.
Deputy chief minister Gaikhangam yesterday in an election rally held at Thangmeiband for the Congress candidate Khumukcham Joykishan said, the Naga People Party (NPP) which is collaborating the BJP is a political wing of NSCN-IM and UNC is the frontal organisation of the Naga militant group.
Ibobi Singh had also appealed all the communities to forgive and forget the past mistakes if there were any, and urged all to build together a prosperous and harmonious Manipur.
Javadekar also asked why the state transport does not use the available low floor buses in the city service and why ISBT remains unused. Why state fails to provide drinking water while the people consume from traders, added Javadekar while talking to the reporters yesterday.
With the failure of the state road transport people are depending on private transport services which include vans and auto rickshaws. For drinking water people are also depending on high cost water tankers and bottles water as there has been irregular pipe water supply.
T.N. Haokip, president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee earlier stated that the state government has plans to avail Loktak as water resource to supply pipe water.
