Imphal, February 1, 2018 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam today stressed on the importance of Community Museum in preserving the traditional and cultural artifacts. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the 2nd Heinoukhong Students’ Unit Conference at Tengnoupal district held under the theme ‘Enlightened Our Vision’.
The Minister said that various communities and ethnic tribe inhabit in the State and Community Museum will help in maintaining the fading traditions and cultural valuables. The museum will also help in reviving the ethnographic richness of the State. Traditional clothes, musical instruments and utensils can be showcased which will educate and inform the future generation about our forefathers.
Minister Th. Radheshyam said, in the fast changing world, it is the duty of the present generation to preserve and pass down the beautiful artifacts and accessories of all ethnic groups and races. He said with rapid globalization, new modern equipments and accessories are replacing the traditional items which might become extinct. We must contribute in setting up Community Museum to conserve artifacts used by our forefathers, he added.
The Minister also urged the people to be supportive towards each other to progress and developed together. Highlighting about the various Government schemes, he asked the public to identify the weaker and the needy, widows and the physically challenged persons to avail benefits from the welfare schemes.
