Imphal: The Directorate of Health Services, Manipur on Thursday updated Dengue cases in its 24 hours report with new 110 cases confirmed till 9:30 pm.

Considering the emerging dengue cases in the state, a review meeting to assess the situation was held on October 6 at the National Health Mission (NHM) conference hall under the chairmanship of Sumant Singh, commissioner-cum-secretary to the governor of Manipur. The meeting examined the monthly dengue trends in comparison to last year’s figures.

“Source reduction remains the most effective way to prevent dengue transmission,” the chair emphasized the need to intensify source reduction activities with active participation of families and community members in the affected localities.

Following the review, a follow-up meeting was convened on Tuesday at the office of the director of Health Services, Dr. N. Hemantakumar Singh, with representatives from local clubs in Imphal urban areas.

The director appealed for “volunteers’ active involvement”, adding that they will receive hands-on training on source reduction techniques from the State Urban Health Teams.

“Starting today, local club members, ASHAs, Urban Health staff, and State Urban Teams will jointly carry out intensive drives within their respective jurisdictions to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and control the spread of dengue in the community,” said a statement issued by director of health services, Manipur.
