Imphal: In a heartfelt celebration of courage and pride, Red Shield Division honoured Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik of the Indian Air Force at a special ceremony held at Leimakhong Military Station, Manipur, said an Indian Army statement released on Wednesday.

Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 2015 as a Su-30MKI fighter pilot, Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik was awarded the prestigious Vir Chakra on India’s 79th Independence Day. He earned this honour for his daring and decisive deep-penetration strikes during Operation Sindoor, where his precision flying, exceptional courage, and steadfast determination proved crucial to the mission’s success, bringing him one of the nation’s highest wartime gallantry awards
An alumnus of Sainik School Imphal and the National Defence Academy, Squadron Leader Malik embodies Manipur’s proud legacy of service to the nation. His achievements mirror the aspirations of a region that has consistently upheld honour and distinction in safeguarding India’s frontiers.
