Imphal: Manipur government has announced to close schools and colleges in five valley districts on Tuesday due the incessant rainfall and subsequent flooding.
A government notification issued on Monday evening said due to the incessant rainfall in the past few days and subsequent flooding in different parts of the state, all schools and colleges in Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching districts shall remain closed on Tuesday.
As per India Meteorological department, Impact Based Forecast dated September 14, heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm lightning is very likely to occur from 14th to 16th September.
In this regard, the government has issued advisory to the general public to exercise extreme caution and stay alert for all possible breaches of the river banks and overflow of water to surrounding areas.
