Imphal: Manipur Police personnel and miscreants who were destroying preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, in Churachandpur on Thursday evening.
The miscreants were reportedly destroying and removing decorations prepared for proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Churachandpur district Saturday.
The incident took place at Peasonmun village, which is about 5 km distance from Churachandpur Police station.
State police confirmed that the clash erupted at three different locations starting from Bongmol which is around 1 km away from BSF helipad where the VVIP is scheduled to land, followed at two locations one at Pearsonmun village areas and the second at Phailien Bazar.
Manipur Police control room said the situation was put under conrol at around 9.10 pm.
There was no information of any arrest till the filing of this report.
The Prime Minister was scheduled to visit Churachandpur and Imphal of Manipur after visiting Churachandpur. The visit will be the first visit to Manipur after 28 months of Manipur crisis.
Local source said the incident occured at Zomi inhabited areas.
