Manipur CAF and PD serves ultimatum to stop selling illegal petroleum oil in 15 days

Imphal: Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution (CAF and PD) has served 15 days ultimatum to stop selling illegal motor spirit (petrol) and high speed diesel especially in bulk before the department take necessary legal action against them.

Officer on duty (Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants), CAF and PD, Haobam Bobby served the ultimatum through a press conference held at auditorium hall of DIPR, here on Friday.

He said the initiatives is being taken following some complaint raised to the department regarding selling of petrol and diesel in some areas of Thoubal and Imphal East district by using fuel pump petrol gun oil nozzle.

“Those who are selling motor spirit (petrol) and high speed diesel illegally in bulk must stop within 15 days from today (September 26). Failures will be taken necessary action under ‘Prevention of Black Marketing and the maintenance of supplies of essential commodities Act, 1980’,” Bobby warned.

He said the department will launch drive against those who are stocking petrol in bulk to check whether they obtain ‘certificate of safety’ issued by chief controller and ‘certificate of tank test’ under rule 126 of the Petroleum Rules, 2002. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has already notified the guidelines on March 13, 2002.

During the drive the concerned officials will check against oil pumps, dispensing unit machine set up at home or fuel dispenser whether they posses petrol pump dealership from Oil Marketing Company, no objection certificate, environment clearance, fire safety certificate, explosive license from the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation, said Bobby.

Such drive will also cover all the roadside illegal black petrol sellers, the officer on duty said in response to reporters.
