“Hiyang Hiren of Churachand Maharaja” released on Manipur State Museum foundation day

Imphal: Manipur governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla accompanied by the First Lady of the state, graced the 56th Foundation Day celebration of the Manipur State Museum at its premises in Imphal on Tuesday. 

The governor released a book titled “Hiyang Hiren of Churachand Maharaja”, authored by K. Sobita Devi, retired director of Art and Culture, Manipur, and inaugurated an exhibition showcasing photographs of Hiyang Hiren, along with valuable artifacts including gold and silver ornaments.

The governor accompanied by the First Lady, also inspected the Museum’s various galleries and planted an Uningthou Nachumbi sapling under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, at the premises. 

The governor congratulated the Department of Art and Culture and the Manipur State Museum on the occasion and lauded their contribution in preserving the Ssate’s cultural heritage for over five decades. Highlighting the significance of museums as custodians of history and heritage, he emphasized their role as living institutions that connect the past with the present and guide future generations. 

Chief secretary P.K. Goel, Art and Culture commissioner H Gyan Prakash, senior officers, scholars, distinguished guests, students and members of the museum fraternity attended the celebration.
