Imphal: Boycotting the proposed PM’s visit to Manipur on September 13, Coordination Committee (CorCom), a conglomerate body of six proscribed underground outfits, has imposed statewide Total Shutdown.
The total shutdown will be effective from 1 am of September 13 until Prime Minister leaves the state, said a statement issued by the committee on Wednesday.
The committee alleged that Modi’s visit have no intention to resolve the ongoing crisis but it aimed to strengthening Proxy wars and consolidating New Delhi’s control.
It accused Modi for turning a blind eye to the violence erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023 killing over 250 individuals and over 60,000 displaced. The central government also promote militarisation through laws like Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), it said.
Arrival of Modi after neglecting years and months of crisis cannot bring solution to the crisis, calling his visit an ‘insult to the people of Manipur’.
CorCom accused the Indian government of pursuing “Hindu extremist policies,” exploiting Manipur’s natural resources, and expanding what it described as “colonial domination.”
It described Modi’s visits to Manipur as inauspicious, pointing out that violence had followed his earlier trip in 2014.
The committee said, Modi and its BJP government must take responsibility of the Manipur crisis and Modi and BJP must go to hell.
