Imphal: Combined teams of Special Operations Team Senapati police station, D-78 CRPF and B-109 CRPF seized 2.066 kg of Heroin powder at T. Khullen Naka checkpoint in Senapati district of Manipur, in the morning of Friday, the Independence Day.
The Heroin powder was packed in two separate packets. They were seized from the possession of two individuals, identified as Jenarul Mia, 21, of Shasani, Maldah district, West Bengal and Deba Das, 18, of Ward No. 2 Bokajan Bazar, Karbi Anglong district, Assam.
The two individuals were hiding the contraband item in a space besides the oil tank of motor bike TVS Apache (black and red colour) bearing registration number AS-09-F-2984 coming from Imphal side towards Senapati when they were detained for checking, said a police statement.
The drugs were seized in presence of Executive Magistrate by observing necessary formalities and the individuals were arrested.
Two mobile phones and the motor bike used for carrying the drugs were also seized from them.
A case has been registered at Senapati police station for investigation.
