Imphal: Manipur Government has made all necessary arrangements for the observance of the Patriots’ Day, 2025 on August 13 which falls on Wednesday, said a government press release.
‘Patriots’ Day is commemorated to honour the heroes of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending the sovereignty of the state. The day stands as a solemn reminder of their unwavering courage and patriotism and to renew the pledge to protect the state’s unity, dignity and heritage’.
The observation of the day will begin with governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla leading the public in offering floral tributes and laying of wreaths at key memorial sites including Hicham Yaicham Pat, Moirangkhom and the Temple of Thangal General, Palace Compound in the morning.
The governor will visit Kangla for a wreath laying ceremony at Kangla Uttra, and then proceed to Shaheed Minar in the afternoon.
After the tributes at the Shaheed Minar, the governor, accompanied by the chief secretary, Manipur will attend the main function to be held at BT Park.
Directives have been issued to the concerned departments, deputy commissioners to make necessary arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the day’s programme, the government release said.
As part of the observance, a Prabhat Pheri will be organised on August 13 at 4 am along main roads and Highways in Imphal. The early morning procession aims to encourage widespread participation from representatives of all communities and to draw greater public attendance at the function, it added.
The state government appealed the public to participate in full attendance to make a successful observation.
