Indian Army organises National Sports Day in Assam, Manipur, Tripura

Imphal: In the memory of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, Indian Army celebrated National Sports Day at Assam, Manipur and Tripura with the spirit of “Fit India, Strong India”.

To commemorate the event, Indian Army organized a friendly volleyball match at Hautak, Bishnupur, Manipur and a friendly football Match at Corner Stone School, Leimakhong, Manipur along with it a mini marathon at Maphou Village, Imphal East. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and informal interactions between the participants and Army personnel, said a press statement released on Friday.

Similiarly a friendly football match was organised by Indian Army at General Ground, Bordumsa, Assam. Two village teams participated in the match, which was witnessed by enthusiastic local residents. Event culminated with distribution of sports items to the local school and youth.

Indian Army also celebrated National Sports Day at Agartala Military Station. The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation of 40 children in a 2 kms run , who showcased their energy, fitness, and discipline.

The event concluded with applause and prize distribution for all participants and winners, and with a collective reaffirmation of the message: “Fit youth, strong India.”
