Imphal: Arrest of Daniel Stephen Courney, an evangelist American, who supplied military equipment to Kuki during Meitei-Kuki crisis, in Nepal has been surfaced on social media.
Indian Defence Updates (IDU) posted on Thursday the information of Courney’s arrest on X account.
“Daniel Stephen Courney, a #US Christian evangelist who secretly visited #Manipur and supplied drones military equipment and training to Kuki militants, has been arrested by #Nepal Immigration Authorities on charges of unlawful activities.”
Courney, 40, had posted a video of him distributing drone and military equipment including bullet proof vests on his you tube channel in March, 2024. This sparked concerns over inciting violence in Manipur.
“This is for commander James… ,” he said while distributing the equipment, as in the video. He mentioned that he was a soldier in the US army.
