Imphal: Manipur Police on Friday arrested two UNLF(P) cadres allegedly for abducting an Imphal West resident.

The arrested persons were Khundrakpam Rakesh Singh, alias Thomba, 30 and Khundrakpam Charles, 25, both residents of Nambol Phoijing Awang Leikai.

Police said they were involved in the abduction of one Laitonjam Dilip Singh, 47, of Patsoi Part-4, Imphal West district from his residence.

The duo were apprehended from the house of one Khundrakpam Inaoton Singh of Nambol Phoijing Awang Leikai under Nambol-PS, Bishnupur district. The abductee was rescued, said police.

Follwing an information of Dilip’s abduction by the militants using one white Bolero vehicle, Manipur Police conducted a cordon and search operation at Nambol Phoijing, leading to arrest of the abductors and rescue of the abductee.

The vehicle used in the abduction activity, three mobile handsets, one wallet containing Rs.4,500 and voter ID card were recovered, police said.
