Imphal : All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) and the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) has expressed their stance to uphold the wishes of the people of Manipur in any resolution process, following the tripartite talks on Manipur crisis, held on April 5 in New Delhi.

Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, president of AMUCO said the discussions marked the beginning of a roadmap aimed at fostering peace and peaceful co-existence within the state.

Speaking at a press conference at the Manipur Press Club, Luwang highlighted the significance of the New Delhi meeting, stressing that the dialogue would contribute to long-term peace efforts in the region.

BM Shah, acting president of FOCS, supplemented that there would be no compromise on Manipur’s territorial integrity.

The talks, facilitated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), brought together key representatives from the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities, along with MHA officials.

Government representatives included AK Mishra, advisor (Northeast) to MHA; Rajesh Kamble, joint director (Intelligence Bureau); Prashant Kumar Singh, chief secretary of Manipur; and Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, additional director general of police, Manipur.

The dialogue was participated by various civil society groups, with three representatives each from AMUCO and FOCS, five from Kuki-Zo Council, and two from the Zomi Council.

AMUCO was represented by Nando Luwang, Dhanabir Laishram, and Tongbram Ito Singh. FOCS was represented by BM Yaima Shah, Ksh. Chandrakumar Singh, and Jemson Khuman.

The Kuki-Zo Council delegation included Henlianthang Thanglet, Thangzamang Hangshing, Ch. Ajang Khongsai, Thangkarn Lupheng, Ros Infimate, and David Buhrii. Pauneihai Haulai represented the Zomi Council.

Earlier discussions between MHA officials and civil society representatives took place on March 12 at the Secretariat conference hall in Imphal.

The Ministry of Home Affairs proposed six critical points for discussion during the April 5 talks, which included the cessation of violence, strengthening of security measures, addressing the challenges of internal displacement, and the normalization of traffic on national and state highways.

The meeting emphasized mutual cooperation in ensuring peace and security, with a particular focus on the safe return of internally displaced persons and prioritizing development in conflict-affected areas. The government also committed to addressing long-term and contentious issues through continued dialogue with the communities involved.

Both AMUCO and FOCS have pledged to continue working toward a peaceful resolution to safeguard Manipur.
