Imphal: Gaurav Gogoi, deputy leader of INC in the Lok Sabha, raised in the Parliament on Tuesday — Why was President’s Rule imposed in Manipur?
“PM Modi had said, 21 months ago, that peace will come in Manipur very soon. But today President’s rule is implemented in Manipur. This is a very sensitive matter for our country,” Gogoi said seeking reply from the Prime Minister.
“Why haven’t they (central leaders) visited Manipur till date?” He asked.
He asked Home minister Amit Shah what the situation of Manipur Aassembly was and he will have to take moral responsibility of presidential rule in state.
“Two years ago today there was a disturbance atmosphere in Manipur, then the home minister said that I will come back soon, but they did not go. Home Minister should follow his royal religion regarding the failure of Manipur,” Gogoi said.
“There will be no peace in Manipur on the power of gun and police patrolling.”
“If you really want to bring peace in Manipur, you have to have patience to listen to the voice of the people there, you have to listen to them.”
