Imphal: The long-cherished wish of the Veer Naris (war widows) to visit the site where their husbands made the ultimate sacrifice was fulfilled as a group of 30 Veer Naris, along with their families, visited the Tupul landslide site ( Marangching village), Noney district on Wednesday.

The catastrophic landslide in June 2022, triggered by relentless rainfall, claimed the lives of several brave soldiers and workers engaged in the Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal Mega Railway project. Since then, their families had expressed a deep desire to visit the location where their loved ones had laid down their lives in service of the nation. Understanding the emotional significance of this request, the unit took the initiative to arrange a visit, ensuring the families could pay homage to their martyrs.

During the visit, the families participated in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony and prayer meeting at the site. They were also provided an opportunity to interact with Army personnel and local authorities, who extended emotional support and reaffirmed their commitment to assisting the Veer Naris.

This visit was not only a tribute to the fallen but also a testament to the strength and resilience of the Veer Naris. Their presence at the site, where their husbands made the ultimate sacrifice, was a poignant moment of closure, pride, and remembrance. The initiative by the unit reinforced the unbreakable bond between the armed forces and the families of its heroes, ensuring that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
