Imphal: Manipur Police have arrested five individuals in connection with a viral video circulating on social media, which displayed 10 to 15 miscreants in camouflage attire, along with some individuals in football kits, holding sophisticated firearms at K. Gamnomphai village ground.
In the viral video, some miscreants were seen playing football while openly carrying assault rifles. Some of the guns had red ribbons tied around the barrels.
Police said the arrests were made on February 12.
The video was reportedly recorded during a football match at K. Gamnomphai village in Saitu sub-division, under G. Saparmeina police station in Kangpokpi district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mangtinlen Kipgen alias Baemang (26), Mangtinlen Kipgen (24), Seithenmang Kipgen (28), Lunminsei Kipgen (21), and Lunkhogin Kipgen (24). They were allegedly seen in the video wearing football kits.
However, police have not confirmed whether the arrested individuals are linked to any underground outfit or if the firearms seen in the video have been seized.
