Imphal: Manipur Police on Thursday arrested five individuals for their involvement in extortion activities in different parts of Manipur.
Police said two active cadres of KCP (Noyon) organization were apprehended from Thangmeiband and Keishampat under Imphal-PS, Imphal West. They were identified as Kangjam Pradip Singh, 38, and Thokchom Romeshchandra Singh, 33. “The arrested persons were directly involved in extortion activities from Imphal area and served monetary demand.”
From their possession, three mobile phones, one side bag, two two-wheelers and one Voter ID Card.
One cadre of KCP (Noyon) organization was nabbed from Khurai Thoudam Leikai, near a crematorium under Porompat-PS, Imphal East. He was identified Leimapokpam Sanjit Meitei, 54. “The arrestee was directly involved in extortion activities from general public, govt. officials, hospitals, govt. schools, petrol pump etc.”
One mobile phone and and a two-wheeler were recovered from his possession.
Two cadres of KCP (PWG) organization were apprehended from Sangaiyumpham Nungphou Samaram Road under Thoubal-PS, Thoubal district.
They were identified as Thokchom Lanchenba Singh, 22 and Md. Salim Khan, 32. “The arrested persons were directly involved in extortion activities.”
From their possession, one pistol with magazine, five ammunition, three mobile phones and one four-wheeler were recovered.
