Imphal: The 2nd 3dition of Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival, 2025 was launched on Thursday at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.
Manipur State Film Development Society and the Manipur State Film and Television Institute organised the festival celebrating the power of cinema in shaping culture and society.
Health and Family Welfare and IPR minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh highlighted the profound impact of films on individuals, communities, and the state, emphasizing their ability to bring positive change. He noted that many film festivals and related events receive sponsorship from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and suggested that such initiatives should not fall under the purview of the Arts and Culture department.
Aribam Syam Sharma, the Doyen of Manipuri Cinema was honoured applauding his remarkable contributions to the world of cinema.
As part of the festival’s opening ceremony, a special bulletin titled “The Eikhoigi Daily” was released. The bulletin will be released daily till the end of the festival.
The event also included an awards presentation and accolades to distinguished individuals.
The ceremony was attended by chief secretary P.K. Singh.
The festival promises a diverse lineup of films, discussions, and events aimed at fostering cinematic appreciation and cultural exchange. The festival will conclude on February 9.
