Meeyamgi Numit resumes after months

Imphal: “Meeyamgi Numit” (People’s Day), which was halted earlier due to some inconvenience in the present crisis, was successfully resumed by the district administration Thoubal on Saturday at the the deputy commissioner’s office complex as a New Year gift to the people of the district.

Since the outbreak of Manipur crisis in May, last year, the people’s day has been suspended.

Meeyamgi Numit will now held on first Saturday of every month, said a government release.

Thoubal deputy commissioner A. Subhash Singh along with officers heard various grievances and demands of the public.

Subhash said the district administration is committed to facilitate benefits of various government schemes and “Meeyamgi Numit” is a platform to meet and address the grievances of the people.

He said the day has brought hope amongst the people in the district and that the government is working for the welfare of the people. He expressed happiness as large number of people turn up even after stopping for some month.

He said he is committed to solve various problems and grievances of the public at the earliest in collaboration with the concern departments. Large number of people are seeking benefits related schemes under social Welfare department,CMHT cards and other schemes, he added.

The deputy commissioner distributed fourteen CMHT card, eleven CMST card and one disablity certificate to the beneficiaries. FSSAI certificate and birth certificate were also distributed. Various Agriculture materials like micro nutrients were also distributed to the farmers.

Under the ZEO Thoubal, books were also distributed to the children of the Relief Camps.

A total of around 523 written applications were recieved on Saturday including  the CMHT and  pension schemes for widow and old age and grievances related to other departments like PHED, Police,MSPDCL among others.

More  than twenty  stalls of different departments were opened to meet the demand of the public including Police, CMO, ICDS, ZEO, MSPDCL, Veterinary,Agriculture and Fishery.
