Imphal: Manipur Police department has refuted allegations made by National Socialist Council of Nagaland, Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) against the Ukhrul district police superintendent of aiding Kuki militants.
The Naga outfit, in a statement issued on Saturday, also alleged that the central government was sustaining the Kuki militants by providing them with material and logistical support. They cited a reported incident involving the SP of Ukhrul, Manipur, who was allegedly “found in an indefensible act”.
The statement stated that the incident occurred on December 18, when the SP reportedly loaded two Saktimaan trucks and two pick-up mini trucks with rice and tin sheets. It was alleged that a larger volume of the load was concealed underneath the rice and tin sheets without disclosing the hidden items.
“…he ordered his policemen to take the items to Molhang Kuki village, telling them it was for the CRPF. When the four vehicles reached Molhang Kuki village, instead of the CRPF, around 200 Kuki militants were found waiting. The Kuki militants hurriedly unloaded the items without allowing the policemen to inspect them. The policemen stood there dumbstruck as the four vehicles were unloaded and emptied,” the statement said.
It accused the central government of sustaining the Kuki militants by providing material and logistical support.
Manipur Police, in a clarification issued on its official X account and Facebook, said the allegations made by NSCN-IM were blatantly false.
“Based on a request from the BSF and Kangpokpi District police, as well as directives from Police Headquarters, Ukhrul District police gave police guides to the BSF team traveling to Molham Kuki Village on 12/12/24 and again on 19th December Ukhrul District Police gave security escorts to trucks carrying laborers and materials for the construction of security barracks in Molham Kuki village, which will house BSF coys.”
“Posting or publishing such unverified facts is wrong and it tarnish the image of the Ukhrul District Police and reputation of the SP.
Appeal is hereby made to all to verify facts before putting things in public domain during these sensitive times when efforts are being made from all fronts to bring peace and restore normalcy in the state.”
