Imphal: Security forces recovered arms and explosives in Churachandpur and Tengnoupal (bordering Myanmar) districts during search operations and area domination conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur.

One AK-56 rifle with one magazine, one .303 rifle with one magazine, one 8mm pistol with one magazine, one 12mm Single Barrel rifle, three 12mm Single Barrel rifle and one 36 Hand Grenade (Chinese origin) were recovered from Old Gelmol village, Churachandpur, said police on Saturday.

Two IEDs (approximately 1 kg) and one IED (approximately 5 kg) were recovered from Chavangphai and Govajang village areas, Tengnoupal district, it added.

During the last 24 hours, the situation In the State was tense but under control, state police control room said.

Manipur Police appealed to public to return ‘the looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
