Imphal: Security forces on Thursday recovered huge catche of arms and ammunitions during their search operations and area domination in Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts.
One 7.62mm Russian RPD Machine Gun, one 5.56 mm INSAS Rifle along with two magazines, one 0.32 Pistol with magazine, one 2″ Mortar, one 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, one explosive with Ctn. weighing about 2.5 Kg, two Pompi Gun, one Pompi Cell, two No. 36 Hand Grenades, two WP Hand Grenades, two Wireless Radio sets, two Tube Launchings, one 60mm Improvised Mortar Shells, two 82 mm Heavy Shell, one 60 mm Improvised Motor High Calibre Launcher, 60 7.62mm live ammunition, 40 5.56mm live ammunitions, three .32 mm ammunitions and two 12 Bore Cartridges were recovered from Nungbram village and Lairok Vaiphei village, Imphal East district.
In another operation the security forces recovered one .303 Sniper modified, one .22 rifle, two Single Barrel Rifles, one 9 mm Pistol, five 12 Bore Cartridges, one .303 live rounds, one IED, one Detonator, one Safety fuze – 10m, one Commercial explosive (100g), one Battery pack, two Tube Launchings, 62 Anti-Riot shell and one Dummy Shell from Nepali Khutti near Laimaton Thangbuh, Kangpokpi district.
The police control room in its press release did not mention to whom the weapons belong and how they were recovered.
Security forces have been taking up operations search operations and area domination in the state since the outbreak of ethnic violence.
