Imphal: The Manipur Indigenous People’s Cultural Exchange Festival, 2024 will be opened at Chadong, Kamjong district in presence of chief minister N. Biren Singh on Friday.

The Festival is organised and hosted by Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur under the Aegis of Tourism department, Manipur.

The festival is sub-titled as Chadong, Festival of Peace and Prosperity. It is to be organised on the theme “Manipur United by Diversity”.

It is organised amidst the Meitei-Kuki crisis in the state. The Festival was earlier scheduled to be held on November 29 and 30 have been rescheduled to he held on December 13 and 14 ‘to accommodate a larger crowd and ensure proper preparation’.

The organisor of the festival prohibited alcohol and all kinds of intoxicating items. “Illegal and unlawful activities are not allowed in this festival.”

Manipur State Transport (MST), Manipur, will arrange two buses for ferrying of participants and people from Imphal to Chadong on these two festival days. The buses will depart at 7am and 8 am from MST complex, Moirangkhom. A sum of Rs 80 will be charged as Bus fare per passenger, said MST manager Lurish Haobam.
