Imphal : The Manipur High Court has constituted an inquiry committee regarding the disappearance of Laishram Kamal Babu, who went missing since November 25 from Leimakhong Army Camp.

Kamalbabu was a work supervisor for a contractor with the Military Engineering Services at the Leimakhong army campus. He went missing after entering the camp.

The committee conducted a spot inquiry and verification on Friday at the Leimakhong Army Camp.

It includes Mahesh Chaudhari, district magistrate of Kangpokpi district; Manoj Prabhakar, superintendent of police, Kangpokpi district; Ch. Hefa, SDC Kangpokpi; Ksh. Shivakanta, superintendent of police, Imphal West; and the commanding officer of the 57 Mountain Division Signal Regiment.

The committee met with the family members of the missing man, Kamal Babu.

The Manipur High Court, on December 3, constituted the committee to find out the fact of the missing person.

The court also directed that the missing man’s family to cooperate with the committee by providing any relevant materials or records available to them.

The High Court instructed the district magistrate, as the head of the committee, to serve a notice to the petitioner or the family members of the petitioner, asking them to appear before the committee for the inquiry. The inquiry report is to be submitted to the High Court in the next hearing on December 11.
