Imphal: Over the past 19 months, the people of Manipur have been facing hardships due to the present crisis, the government has been persistently working towards restoring peace by focusing on developmental initiatives, which are crucial for fostering peace, chief minister N.Biren Singh said.

Biren was launching the annual calendar and diary of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Directorate of Health Services, and National Health Mission at his secretariat on Tuesday.

Responding to reporters the chief minister said, regarding the case of Kamalbabu’s disappearance, the respective court has directed investigators to submit reports every two weeks. “If necessary, the case will be handed over to an agency or a higher-level committee.”

Biren also clarified that there is no authorised checking point at Gamgiphai in Kangpokpi district along NH-2. He explained that such checkpoints have been set up by locals due to the prevailing unrest and tension in the region.

The Manipur government is continuing its efforts to negotiate peace through various agencies, he said. He also mentioned ongoing measures to facilitate the return of displaced government employees to Imphal.

Considering the significance of Christmas Eve, the Manipur government decided to launch the yearly calendar and diary of DIPR, Directorate of Health Services, and National Health Mission.

With the advent of the BJP-led government, efforts have been made to launch the yearly calendar before the New Year. So far, the government has successfully ensured the timely release of the calendar, which is an essential resource for individuals, he added.
