Imphal: Manipur chief minister has summoned all Manipur legislators to immediately reach Imphal following the dead of six individuals including two children and a minor who had been held captive by Kuki terrorists since Monday violence in Jiribam district of Manipur.
The six individuals were found on Friday and Saturday in two different parts of Silchar in Assam.
Irritated people took up mass protests demanding to punish the guilty in Imphal and other parts of the valley districts. Khwairamband Ima Keithel and other business establishments were shut down on Sunday showing solidarity against the murder of the captives.
Vendors of ima Keithel met te chief minister N. Biren Singh, here, to take up steps to punish the guilty and to stop further killings by Kuki terrorists. Biren told them he will act according to the wishes of the people.
An emergency cabinet was held on Friday night chaird by the chief minister. The meeting resolved to declare organisations or groups who are associated with killing of civilians. It condemned the killing of innocent civilians who were captivated by Kuki militants from relief camps in Jiribam.
The officer in-charge of a police station in Jiribam was transferred after the Monday violence of Jiribam. He sought for resignation after he was issued transfer order. The police office was a police officer who have been praised by the people for his duty in safeguarding people from terrorists attacks.
Protest in Imphal reached at its height. Demonstrators stormed at the residences of ministers and MLAs. Annoyed Demonstrators started attacking their residences. Such a scene was witnessed at the residence of MLA Nishikanta Sapam, here.
People took on their demonstrations on the streets of Imphal. They blocked roads and set fire on the roads.
Prior to people’s protest the government had declared to shut down all schools across the state following the news of killing innocent civilians by Kuki terrorists.
