Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has strongly responded to the recent remarks made by the Mizoram chief minister during his visit to the United States.
He was responding to reporters on the sidelines of the Silver Jubilee celebration of Herbert School in Imphal on Thursday.
Mizoram chief minister Lalduhoma on September 4, in In a gathering with the Chin communities in the USA, said the Zo people are vastly separated in India, Myanmar and Bangladesh. “There will be one day where all the Zo people come together in the system of one rule.”
Lalduhoma made his statement to bring the Kuki-Zo community of India (in Mizoram and Manipur), Myanmar and Bangladesh under one-rule as Chin state.
Biren said he preferred not to directly comment on the Mizoram CM’s controversial statement and stated that anyone who dared to challenge the integrity of Manipur or India would receive a befitting reply. He assured that the government remained firm in its mission to uphold national unity and strength.
Addressing recent attacks on Meitei villages by suspected Zo-Kuki militants, Biren confirmed that security forces had swiftly retaliated, putting an end to the incident. He also responded to public concerns over a gathering in the area, which some suspected involved Kuki militants preparing for an assault.
