Imphal: While people of Manipur look for government in restoring peach, Fresh gunfights, including bomb explosions, erupted at two different locations on Saturday night.
The two incidents occurred at Koutruk, Imphal West district, and Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district.
Police suspected that Kuki militants launched the attack at around 7 pm at Koutruk Ching Leikai village under the jurisdiction of Lamshang police station, using sophisticated firearms and bombs. State forces retaliated leading to a heavy fire exchange.
A resident of Koutruk Ching Leikai, said, during the exchange of fire, a drone, suspected to have been launched from Bethel village and operated by Kuki militants, was seen.
The exchange of fire continued for four hours.
CRPF personnel are fully prepared to shoot down unauthorized drones hovering in the area, police said.
In Bishnupur, suspected Kuki militants launched the attack on Tronglaobi village, located around 6 km south of Moirang police station in Bishnupur district.
Police said the suspected Kuki militants opened fire from Geljang and Molshang areas at around 9:15 pm. State force retaliated.
Tronglaobi had experienced a rocket attack by Kuki militants in early September.
No casualties were reported in the Saturday night incidents.
