Imphal: Two police personnel–an inspector and a constable were injured were injured when ‘miscreants’ fired to a police team in Imphal East on Friday late evening.
Police said, late in the evening, some miscreants attempted to loot arms from 7th MR, Khabeisoi and 2nd MR, Imphal. The combined security forces deployed at these locations, dispersed the mob and miscreants by firing tear smoke munitions and blank rounds. While dispersing the mob, some vehicles belong to miscreants also damaged reportedly.
Later, while the reinforcement party returning from 7th MR, they were fired upon by miscreants in which two police personnel; Inspector Kh. Henery, OC-CDO/IE and constable Issac Gangmei got injured, it said.
Immediately, senior officers led by L. Kailun, IPS, ADGP(L/O) and others rushed to the spot and controlled the situations. Both Police personnel were evacuated to Shija Hospital, a press release said.
It said the state police along with other security forces continue the combing operations in fringe areas of Kangopkpi, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Imphal East with the aim of preventing attacks from miscreants.
