Imphal, 6 Sep 2024: Terrorist bomb attack in Bishnupur district at Manipur’s first chief minister Mairembam Koireng Singh (1915-1994) has killed one person and injured five others including two women.

The incident took place at around 3:30 pm at Mairembam Lekai, near Loktak lake.

Ahead of this bomb attack another bomb damaged two constructions at Tronglaobi village in Bishnupur district at around 4 am.

The injured persons were rushed at hospital at Moirang and Imphal.

The bomb was exploded by the statue of the former chief minister, a witness said.

He said he was inside the house when the powerful bomb exploded. Dust and smoked covered the residential complex.

“Now the bombs can reach this place. This indicates that nobody at Moirang is safe,” he said.

Manipur valley nearby hills faced drone attacks for the past few days since Sunday. The fresh bomb attack occurred after two days the terrorists aerial bombs attack.

Minister L. Susindro visited the site. People were shouting at him to do his duty to safeguard people and sent him away. The scene went viral.

In the meantime Churachandpur people declared to shut down the town.

Kuki terrorists have been attacking Meitei villages since May 3 last year. There has been apprehension that the paramilitary forces have been siding the rebels. Manipur government remains helpless having no authority to Unified Command. People have been demanding the Centre to protect Meitei from Kuki heavy attacks.
