Separate Administration demand cannot be successful even if 100 CMs are replaced: MDA

Imphal: People of Manipur will never accept the Kuki-Zo demand for a Separate Administration or Union Territory, even if 100 chief ministers are replaced.

Convenor of the Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA), M. Tombi, said this speaking to reporters at the MDA office,  here on Friday.

Tombi said no one has the right to disintegrate the territorial boundaries of Manipur, which have existed since the signing of the Merger Agreement with the Government of India in 1949.

He mentioned that central leaders begin to realize that the Kuki-Zo are distorting Manipur’s indigenous history by spreading false narratives.

People of Manipur must support the state government and strengthen its position to pressure the central government to resolve the crisis.

Co-convenor of the MDA, Keisham Rag, remarked that the use of unauthorized weapons—including snipers, drone bombings, and improvised rocket-propelled devices—in the ongoing communal conflict between the Kuki and Meitei communities is no trivial matter.

He urged the central government to recognize that Manipur is also a part of India and questioned why it remains a silent spectator while Kuki militants use such war weapons in the ongoing crisis.

All sections of society, including politicians, must make a collective effort to stop the violence perpetrated by Kuki militants against civilians, Rag said.
