Imphal:  There is no basis currently to believe in any input regarding infiltration of 900 trained Kuki militants from Myanmar to Manipur.

This was said in a press statement released on Wednesday by security advisor to Manipur government Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh.

“In view of the recent reactions from different communities regarding input of infiltration of 900 trained Kuki militants from Myanmar to carry out attacks on Meiteis on Sept 28, it is clarified that the input was verified from different quarters, but it could not be substantiated on ground.”

“There is no basis currently to believe in any such input. However, security forces deployed on the ground are placed on a high alert to protect lives and properties of citizens. All communities are assured of their safety. They are advised not to believe in any rumours or unverified information.”

Kuldiep Singh on September 20 said the intelligence report, that 900 trained armed militants from Myanmar have entered into Indian territory in Manipur, have been shared to security chiefs. Combined forces of state and central security have been alerted in strategic areas including border areas, he told reporters at the chief minister’s secretariat.

A letter from the chief minister’s office addressed to the DGP Manipur, Security Advisor, and Home Commissioner mentioned the report of over 900 Kuki militants, newly trained in the use of drone-based bombs, projectiles, missiles, and jungle warfare, who have entered Manipur from Myanmar. “These militants are organized in groups of 30 and are currently scattered in peripheral areas. They are expected to launch multiple coordinated attacks on Meitei villages around September 28.”
