Imphal: Following the drone attack incident on Sunday in the Imphal West district by Kuki narco-terrorists, suspected Kuki terrorists set ablaze one abandoned house of a former Manipur police officer in Jiribam district on Wednesday morning.

Police said the abandoned house belonged to Sinam Bipun, the former officer-in-charge of Borobekra police station in Jiribam district, Manipur.

The incident occurred around 3:30 am at Jakuradhor Bazaar.

The family had already vacated the house after violence erupted in June. Taking advantage of the absence of the family, the miscreants set the house on fire, police said.

Jiri Apunba Lup (JAL), has vehemently condemned the heinous act of arson in which the house of Sinatra Bipin Singh, a retired OC of Borobekra Sub-division Police, Jiribam, located in Jakuradhor village, Borobekra Sub-division, was burned down by unknown miscreants in the night of Saturday,  JAL said.

“We are really wondering how this incident took place despite the presence of central and state security forces. This is not an isolated case, similar incidents have been occurring at regular intervals. These recurring acts suggest that this is a part of a well-organized plan to target and cleanse the Meitei minority community from this sub-division.”

JAL appealed all the communities inhabiting there to stand united for the justice and appeal the relevant authorities to apprehend the culprits at the earliest and ensure justice is served.
